Paint and coatings are used mainly to preserve and extend the life of products such as metal bridges, automobiles and aircraft. If not well protected; paint and coating would need to be replaced more frequently which will have adverse environmental impacts. Almost every five years, aircraft necessitates repainting. A large quantity of paint remover is needed to remove the old painting before applying the new one. RJ’s ambition is to obtain the means, in cooperation with the QAIA Authorities, to collect all paint-remover waste on plastic sheets and to chemically process it so that it can be safely discarded. However, RJ is considering the option of operating its future aircraft Fleet with no-paint or with partial paint. In other words, to retain the (treated) natural metal color. By doing so, many advantages are achieved such as: lighter aircraft weight which reflects on saving fuel, saving cost of paint and repaint, reducing maintenance efforts and ultimately saving the environment.
